Subaru Prepares Next-Generation Levorg Wagon with Hybrid Power
Japanese automotive outlet BestCarWeb has revealed the first details about the all-new, third-generation Subaru Levorg. According to early reports, the official debut is planned for Autumn 2026, and for the first time in the model’s history, the Levorg will feature a hybrid powertrain—not developed solely by Subaru, but incorporating key components from Toyota’s Hybrid System.
Hybrid Technology with Subaru’s AWD DNA
The upcoming Levorg will be equipped with S:HEV hybrid technology, where both the gasoline engine and electric generator will come directly from Toyota. However, Subaru’s engineers have developed a unique transmission system of their own, integrating:
-
Two electric motors (one for propulsion, one for energy generation)
-
A front differential
-
An electronic clutch
This technical solution allows Subaru to implement symmetrical all-wheel drive even in hybrid form—perfectly in line with the brand’s long-standing commitment to safety, stability, and control. Symmetrical AWD remains one of Subaru’s most distinctive engineering hallmarks.
Dimensions and Weight
-
Length: 4,780 mm
-
Width: 1,820 mm
-
Height: 1,480 mm
-
Wheelbase: 2,670 mm
-
Curb weight: 1,680 kg
These measurements place the new Levorg squarely in the mid-size wagon category.
Powertrains: Hybrid First, Turbo Later
At launch, the Levorg will be offered exclusively as a hybrid, with a 160-hp gasoline engine and a 120-hp electric motor, promising a lively and responsive driving experience.
Later in the model cycle, Subaru plans to introduce alternative powertrains, including:
-
A 1.8-liter turbocharged engine
-
A 2.4-liter turbocharged variant aimed at performance enthusiasts who value speed as much as practicality.
Pricing and Market Position
Initial pricing is expected to start at around $29,000 USD, aligning with Subaru’s strategy in the family wagon segment while emphasizing engineering innovation.
