5 Land Rover Defender Octa Gets Armored Edition One

Canadian company Inkas Armored, renowned for building high-protection vehicles, has unveiled a new armored version of one of the most powerful and capable SUVs of today—the Land Rover Defender Octa. The special edition, named Defender Octa Edition One, is now available for order, though pricing details remain undisclosed.

Inkas has effectively transformed the Defender Octa into a mobile fortress, certified to the BR6 ballistic protection standard. This means the SUV can withstand sustained fire from a 7.62 mm assault rifle as well as the simultaneous detonation of two DM51 hand grenades. Such resilience is achieved through a fully integrated armored capsule covering the roof, floor, and cabin walls, along with multi-layer bullet-resistant glass. Reinforced door hinges and overlapping seams further eliminate potential weak points.

At first glance, the armored Defender Octa looks almost identical to the standard version. However, closer inspection reveals steel protection elements beneath the side sills with subtle Inkas branding. The SUV also features a reinforced fuel tank housing, while Runflat tires with polycarbonate inserts allow continued driving even after a complete puncture.

Inside, the Edition One retains the signature Octa cabin design with forged carbon accents and modern tech features. Buyers can also choose from an extended list of options, including an oxygen filtration system, 360° cameras, night vision, LED strobe lights, loud siren, intercom system, and an emergency roof hatch—potentially crucial in high-risk situations. A door assistance mechanism helps with the added weight of armored doors.

Under the hood lies the familiar 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, producing 626 hp (467 kW / 635 PS) and 749 Nm of torque. In the standard Octa, this engine propels the SUV from 0–100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The armored Edition One will inevitably be slower due to its added weight, but for its target audience, safety far outweighs outright speed.

While official pricing has not been announced, it is expected to significantly exceed the cost of the standard Defender Octa, which starts at $158,300 in the U.S., with the Octa Black edition priced from $168,700. Factoring in the additional armor and bespoke options, the final cost is likely to run tens of thousands of dollars higher.
